Presentation:
The work was to demolish an existing 19th Century Portuguese style building formerly used for observatory in Monte Fortress and reconstructed to a building comprised of 2-storey of basement and 1-storey of superstructure. The exterior of the building is retained its former heritage appearance. The building interior is modernized to house an unprecedented museum of Macau history. The 3-storey administration office building was constructed on another side of the hill. The exterior wall was covered with hand-chipped granite to imitate the neighboring existing walls of the Fortress. The interior of both buildings were harmoniously decorated with materials of different ages to render a characteristic merge of the 18th Century and contemporary architectures. The use of material reflected the unique history and cultural background of Macau and its process of development. Macau Museum is now one of the most famous and popular tourist attractions in Macau.
